When teaching a class, a teacher should concern about the class situation, whether the students pay attention to the teacher or they are bored. If the students are bored, the teacher should motivate them in various ways. Asking questions can be one of the examples. By asking questions, the students will concentrate on the topic under discussion.
When explaining the material, a teacher also should stimulate students to help them understand the topic of lesson; to achieve the competence set in curriculum; to increase their active participation, enthusiasm and spirit of study; and to avoid boredom and apatism.
The other important element in teaching is reinforcement. Saying simple words such as ‘Good!’, ‘Yes, that’s right!’, ‘Excellent!’ etc. will motivate the students to learn enthusiastically. If the students are appreciated, they will pay attention more to the teacher.
