actor and actress
A teacher sometimes is also an actor/actress. Why? Because a teacher should looked happy although s/he is sad. It is important to pretend to be happy because it will motivate the students. If we, teachers, looked sad when they are teaching, the students will be demotivating. Teachers should do everything to motivate students. Because it is teacher’s responsibility to motivate students so that they want to learn enthusiastically.

teaching performance
Last week, I did the group teaching. It was an unforgettable experience because I felt nervous. I knew that being a teacher is not an easy job. When my friends were the teacher, I pretended to be a noisy student. And then, I got the “karma”. When I did the teaching performance, I knew that it’s difficult to control the class, especially the noisy students. I think class management is the most difficult task in teaching. As a teacher, I have to manage the time, the students, and of course the situation of the class. From my group teaching performance, I learn that being a teacher is not an easy job. We have to prepare many things. I hope, I can be a good teacher in the future...

mastering the material
Teaching is not an easy job. We have to prepare many things before teaching. Firstly, we have to master the material. It is really important. Because by mastering the material, the class will run well. If we do not master the material, the students will get “wrong lesson” and they will not respect us. By mastering the material, we also feel confident because we know what to do in class. Beside that, we should know the situation of the class so that we can handle the class.

Motivate Students
When teaching a class, a teacher should concern about the class situation, whether the students pay attention to the teacher or they are bored. If the students are bored, the teacher should motivate them in various ways. Asking questions can be one of the examples. By asking questions, the students will concentrate on the topic under discussion.
When explaining the material, a teacher also should stimulate students to help them understand the topic of lesson; to achieve the competence set in curriculum; to increase their active participation, enthusiasm and spirit of study; and to avoid boredom and apatism.
The other important element in teaching is reinforcement. Saying simple words such as ‘Good!’, ‘Yes, that’s right!’, ‘Excellent!’ etc. will motivate the students to learn enthusiastically. If the students are appreciated, they will pay attention more to the teacher.

Open and End the Class
A teacher has to master many skills. There are set induction and set closure skills, explaining and stimulus-variation skills, questioning skills, reinforcement skills. Last Wednesday, i learnt the set induction and set closure skills. Set induction is how to open/begin the class. There are few steps to open the class. Firstly is greeting. It is very important because it will affect the class. We have to give good first impression to the students so that they will be highly motivated. Secondly is introducing the material. For example, we can show them a picture of elephants. Then, we ask them to describe elephants. After they answer the question, we can tell them that we are going to learn report text. Then, we can also tell them the lesson objectives.
The set closure skill is also important. After explaining the material, we should summarize what we have learnt in the class. We can ask the students about our explanation. If the students can answer the question, it means that they understand our explanation. From the answer, we can also know whether the students achieve the objectives or not. Then, we can give assignments or homework for the students. After that, we can inform the next lesson. Finally, we can end the class.
